ROXY ERICKSON, LOCAL NWA ART EXHIBIT

SIDEWAYS GLANCES, AN EXHIBIT BY ROXY ERICKSON AT THE FRAME SHOPPE

The Frame Shoppe recently hosted an exhibit full of work by the talented local artist, Roxy Erickson. This event was so much fun and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know more people in the local NWA art community. Check out some of our photos from the event below!

ABOUT ROXY ERICKSON

Visual Artist, Located In Bentonville, AR

My work is a direct reflection of my experiences, both positive and negative, and a desire to create a shared emotional experience with my audience. The esthetic - flashy, florescent, over the top— is meant to incite a false sense of joy that is quickly overshadowed by a subtle melancholia. The viewer is lured by the glitzy esthetic, but left with an unsettling feeling. Whether it’s working with society gendered, feminine materials or the fact that I primarily make portraits of the women in my life, being a woman impacts all aspects of my work. It is also extremely important to me to join the current cultural conversation and provide my own commentary on women’s rights and our place in the world.

Roxy is currently based in Bentonville, Arkansas. After graduating with her bachelors in painting from Savannah College of Art and Design she went on to get her masters in fine art from the San Francisco Art Institute, in 2015.
